Step-Wise Approach to Managing Asthma, Controlling Asthma Triggers
The American Lung Association of New Jersey and the New Jersey Thoracic Society have initiated the formation of The Pediatric/Adult Asthma Coalition of New Jersey (PACNJ). The coalition has developed tools for the management of asthma, such as the above asthma action plan.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) developed a webpage dedicated to explaining asthma and its triggers. The webpage provides a full-color brochure, “You Can Control Your Asthma” which is available for downloading.  This webpage is also offered in Spanish.

Environmental Management of Pediatric Asthma: Guidelines for Health Care Providers
The National Environmental Education & Training Foundation (NEETF) launched the Pediatric Asthma Initiative in partnership with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The initiative is a long-term project in order to integrate environmental management of asthma into pediatric medical and nursing education and practice.

Native American Asthma Radio Campaign Materials
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Ad Council have compiled 12 radio PSAs in three different languages, Annishinaabe, Lakota, and Diné/Navajo, to raise awareness of childhood asthma and help prevent asthma attacks in Native American Communities. The PSAs are also available in English and Spanish for TV, radio, newspaper, magazine, bus transit, billboard, school poster and web banner.

Patient Education Material Assessment Tool
Allies Against Asthma is a national program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) with direction and technical assistance by the University of Michigan Center for managing Chronic Disease, Allies provides support to community-based coalitions that are implementing comprehensive pediatric asthma management programs.  Coalition efforts include improved access to and quality of medical services, education, family and community support, and environmental and policy initiatives.

National Institutes of Health, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, (NHLBI) provides leadership for a national program in diseases of the heart, blood vessels, lung, and blood; blood resources; and sleep disorders. The Student Asthma Action Card is a tool for the daily management of asthma in a school environment.
